Kim Carnes to release brand new version of “Bette Davis Eyes”

Renowned singer-songwriter Kim Carnes is set to release a fresh rendition of her 1981 chart-topping sensation, “Bette Davis Eyes.” Collaborating with original band members, Carnes presents “Bette Davis Eyes (Kim’s Version),” slated to debut on streaming platforms on April 19.

Originally featured on her fifth album, Mistaken Identity, “Bette Davis Eyes” clinched both Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the 1982 Grammy Awards.

Produced by Carnes herself, this new rendition pays homage to the timeless classic penned by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon, initially released on DeShannon’s 1974 album, New Arrangement.

Following its initial release, legendary actress Bette Davis personally expressed her gratitude to Carnes for immortalizing her in modern times. The memorable encounter between Carnes and Davis for a People magazine photoshoot in 1982 remains etched in history, with Carnes fondly recalling Davis’s embroidered cushion bearing the words “No Guts No Glory.”

Recorded in Nashville in June 2007, this rendition remained shelved until now. The track features contributions from esteemed musicians, including Craig Kampf on drums, Bill Cuomo and Steve Glassmeyer on keys, Kenny Greenberg and Billy Panda on guitar, and Glenn Worf on bass.
